OVERVIEW:
Bally's Las Vegas is not the most luxurious hotel nor is it the cheapest. It's not the biggest, but certainly not the smallest. It's a laid back hotel where you can feel comfortable in tux or strolling around in jeans and flip flops. Located in the middle of the Strip, it's a popular choice for high rollers and low rollers. In general, it's a perfectly average hotel and we're just fine with that.
HISTORY:
The Bally's hotel is actually the original MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, not to be confused with the current MGM Grand down the strip. The hotel was sold to Bally Entertainment Corp in 1985 and the name was officially changed to Bally's. Prior to the MGM Grand years, the property was home to several hotel and casinos. Three Coins Motel was the first in 1963. The Bonanza Hotel and Casino opened four years later in 1967. The hotel was rename to the New Bonanza Hotel and Casino before making room for the MGM Grand. When the MGM Grand opened in December of 1973, it was the largest hotel in the world and remained so for many years. Today, Bally's Las Vegas has over 2,800 hotel rooms and remains a Vegas icon. In February 2015, Bally's opened its open-air market place called the Grand Bazaar Shops at a cost of around 50-million dollars.
FACTS & TIDBITS:

1. Bally's Las Vegas was featured in several feature films in the 1990's including "Honeymoon in Vegas", "Indecent Proposal" and "Leaving Las Vegas".

2. Bally's was home to The Price is Right stage show. This stage adaptation of the original television show allowed the audience to win cool prizes (minus the kiss from Bob).

3. On February 11, 2016, Bally's closed its long-running production show called Jubilee!

HIDDEN TIPS:
Surprisingly, Sully's Bar has an extensive draft beer selection. It's located right in the middle of the casino.

BARS:
For many years, The Indigo Lounge was a reminder of the classic, old-school Las Vegas style lounges from years past. However, it 2013, Victor Drai completely revamped the lounge with modern decor, new furniture and a whole new snazzy look. While we'll miss the old vibe, the new Indigo Lounge looks great. This intimate lounge is now one of the best spots to relax, sip on a cocktail and enjoy live music. We highly recommend The Indigo Lounge for those of you looking a classic Vegas lounge with live music.
