OVERVIEW:
The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is one of the newer resorts on the Strip. This beautiful, luxury resort was clearly designed with the appreciation of art in mind. The art design of the resort not only showcases paintings or sculptures, but also highlights new media and digital art. This is evident from the moment you enter the resort. Artwork can be found almost everywhere; the hotel lobby, in many of its several lounges, even in the parking garage. The collection of digital art through out of resort is truly compelling. So, is it art imitating life or life imitating art? We're not sure, but it's sure a great place to have a cocktail and enjoy the ambiance.
HISTORY:
The Cosmopolitan opened December 15, 2010, more then 5 years after construction broke ground. The original intent was to open the resort as a residential condominium-hotel with a large majority of condominium units, but the economic recession of the late 2000s changed the plans. Instead, the resort opened with nearly 3,000 hotel rooms and a cost estimated at 3.9 billion dollars. Since the resort was original designed as a condominium-hotel, it's one of the few resorts to offer balcony hotel rooms to its guests. Some of these balcony rooms offer the best views of the Bellagio fountains.
FACTS & TIDBITS:

1. There is hidden contemporary artwork located in the parking garage of The Cosmopolitan (Yes, in the parking garage). Located on levels B2 through B5, visitors can find art murals designed by 4 contemporary artists. Shinique Smith, Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf and RETNA came together for this art project that The Cosmopolitan calls "Wallworks".

2. The Cosmopolitan has taken old cigarette vending machines and turned them into "Art-o-mat" machines. These refurbished, retro machine dispense mini original works of art such as small paintings, tiny sculptures and original jewelry. The Art-o-mats can be found on the second floor of the hotel.

3. Marquee Nightclub was the highest grossing nightclub in America in 2011 with an estimated 70-80 million dollars in revenue.

4. In 2013, Gogobot rated The Cosmopolitan as "The Best Hotel in the World".

HIDDEN TIPS:
Shh... There is a secret pizza joint located on the 3rd floor of the hotel. The hotel staff will not talk about it. You'll only get a nod here or a wink there. It's hidden from view, down a long hallway. Ok, maybe it's not such a secret anymore, but it is some good pizza.

If you're a fan of digital technology, animation art or modern architecture, make sure you visit the West Lobby of the Cosmopolitan. Ultra-thin LCD video screens come together to create 8 large video columns. These columns create an absolutely unique vibe and design to this hotel lobby. At the touch of a button, the mood can be changed from a calm, tranquil setting to a high energy environment.
RECOMMENDED COCKTAIL:

THE VERBENA COCKTAIL
at COSMOPOLITAN LAS VEGAS

You will not find this secret cocktail on any menus at the Cosmopolitan, but its become the resort's most popular drink of all time. The cocktail is made with Herredura Blanco tequila, ginger syrup, sour mix and lemon verbena leaves which creates a lemonade taste to it. The garnish, a Szechuan button, provides playful surprise. It can be found by ordering it by name at the Chandelier Bar on level 1 1/2. Astonishing, the Cosmo has reported selling over 9 million dollars of these secret cocktails.

The team at VitalVegas.com has a good write up on the cocktail.
