OVERVIEW:
The Excalibur Hotel and Casino is the medieval themed resort designed as a gigantic castle. The Excalibur is one of the few resorts that still caters to families, although it’s evident that the resort is moving away from that image. In recent years, a lot of the medieval décor has been removed or replaced. The famous Merlin statue that once stood watch above the castle’s drawbridge (a.k.a. the casino entrance) is now gone and the fire-breathing dragon that once lurked in the misty moat below has been slayed. Instead, the resort has moved into a more “grown-up” direction with adult shows, new restaurants and expanded shopping venues. The overall feel of the resort is fun and friendly, but hasn’t quite reached a full party vibe yet. With that said, there are several good places to relax, listen to some good music and throw one back.
HISTORY:
It’s hard to believe that the Excalibur Hotel and Casino turned 25 years old in 2015. When the resort opened in 1990, it was the largest hotel in the world. The Excalibur was built by Circus Circus Enterprises when the city was moving in a more family friendly vacation destination direction. It had state-of-the-art 4D attractions, a huge video game arcade, entertaining carival games, and even a free Merlin & Dragon water show. Some of these still remain, but its not like it once was. Now that Las Vegas has returned to its Sin City roots, the Excalibur is balancing between being a kid friendly hotel and a Las Vegas party spot. Right now, it's not doing either very good.
FACTS & TIDBITS:
1. Each year, over 3,500 lances are broken in the jousting competition during The Tournament of Kings show.

2. The Excalibur Hotel and Casino serves resort guests well over one million alcoholic beverages each month.

3. The McDonald's restaurant in the Excalibur is one of only two in the world that sell Pepsi instead of Coke (Luxor has the other one).
HIDDEN TIPS:
The Excalibur has a great food court with all your favorites and a little bit more. If you looking for a late night bite, this is a great place to find something quick and cheap.

BARS:
Check out the Octane Lounge located in the Excalibur’s Castle Walk (the second floor). This high-energy, rock and roll lounge is Vegas’ version of a biker bar. If tight leather pants and loud rock ‘n roll are your thing, you’re in for a real treat. The talented bartenders can really shake things up, and we’re not just talking about your drink. Guys, this is a great spot for a drink! The ladies tend to grab a drink before and after the show. It's also a popular place for bachelorette parties. You can thank us later!
