OVERVIEW:
The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is a luxury resort that has everything. It's world famous for its 11-acre beach area, which contains several pools, wave pool, lazy river, beach casino and plenty of hard bodies. The Beach, as it's known, has become one of the hottest areas in all of Las Vegas. During the summer months, Mandalay Bay hosts incredible beach parties and concerts. All we can says is... WOW! Inside the resort, guests are treated to many great bars, clubs, lounges and restaurants. Some of our favorites include the House of Blues, Eyecandy Lounge and the very popular Red Square. There are so many options. The resort has a casual vibe, but still has a luxury feel to it. If this resort was in the heart of the Strip, it would be our top party stop. There is a monorail that connects this resort with the Luxor and Excalibur, which is a perfect way to access all three hotels.
HISTORY:
Opening its doors on March 2, 1999, the Mandalay Bay Resort was built on the same land that the famous Hacienda Hotel once stood. The Hacienda, which spent 40 years on the Vegas strip, was imploded in December of 1996 to make room for this 950 million dollar resort and casino. The gold colored windows are rumored to come from the gold leaf used in the windows. We're not sure if that's true, but the gold colored hotel makes a bold statement. In 2003, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay opened with its 43-story, 1100+ luxury suites tower, bringing the overall total number of rooms available to over 3,300. In September of 2014, THEhotel was renovated and rebranded as the Delano Las Vegas. If that wasn't confusing enough, the Four Seasons Hotel operates five floors (floors 35-39) in the main building. Mandalay Bay can be seen in several television shows and feature films including CSI, Ocean's Thirteen and The Hangover.
FACTS & TIDBITS:
1. Looking for live music, check out Phoenix "Las Vegas' Classic Rock Band" playing at the Mizuya Lounge. This cover band puts on a great show. Visit their website for schedule and times... phoenixclassicrockband.com

2. Red Square, one of the top bars on the Strip, keeps its Vodka Vault at a chilly -5 degrees and was once voted Best Bar by Playboy Magazine.

3. Rumjungle, which is now closed, was selected as the best rowdy bar by Chance Magazine in 2001 and as the trendiest bar by Casino Player in 2005. We miss you Rumjungle.
HIDDEN TIPS:
A great time to visit the Skyfall Lounge is around the 6pm hour. There is no cover. The lounge has an open-air balcony which provides amazing views of Vegas. It's a great place to watch the sunset over the Strip!
