OVERVIEW:
In 2018, Park MGM officially opened. The days of the Monte Carlo Resort are gone. Park MGM replaces the Monte Carlo with a complete makeover of the property, including all new bars, restaurants, hotel rooms and lobby. The resort has a few good spots to have a cocktail or two, but the atmosphere has never really said "Party". Purposefully, there isn’t the glitz of Vegas or the lounge acts that you would typically find in other resorts. It's a mix of a classic Vegas resort with a feel of a boutique hotel. Overall, the property has a fairly mellow vibe. For those you you looking to party, look to the exterior of the hotel. The Park, located right outside the resort, is a dining and entertainment district and can really get going when there are events at the arena.
HISTORY:
After closing the iconic Dunes casino and golf course in 1993, Mirage Resorts demolishd the hotel and cleared the land to build a $250-million resort focused on the budget-conscious visitor. Ground was broken in March of 1995 and the Monte Carlo Resort was opened in June 1996. The French Riviera themed hotel has an expensive, high-roller feel, but is marketed and priced for the average, middle class guest. On January 25, 2008, The Monte Carlo Resort was damaged by a fire on the upper floors. The three-alarm fire caused the hotel to close for 21 days, but thankfully no one was killed or seriously hurt. In the summer of 2009, Hotel 32 opened on Monte’s Carlo’s top floor. Hotel 32 is a high-end, luxurious hotel within the hotel. In 2018, the Monte Carlo became Park MGM and Hotel 32 was rebranded Nomad Las Vegas.
FACTS & TIDBITS:
1. When it was open, The Pub and Keg Room had over 70 beers on tap with a lot of unique brews. It was one of the first bars on the Strip to embrace the microbrew movement. Unfortunately the Pub closed with the renovations for Park MGM.

2. The Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino was featured in the 2004 film Dodgeball.

3. Contestants on the Amazing Race 15 television show had to count out one million dollars of Monte Carlo poker chips to receive thier next clue.

The location makes Park MGM a great place to stay if you have tickets to an arena event.
