OVERVIEW:
The Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Towe is the Northern most party stop on the Las Vegas Strip. The Stratosphere is the perfect place to end your Vegas day and a great place to have some fun. You can throw back another cocktail in one of the hotel’s seven lounges and bars; you can relax with an excellent meal at the Top of the World restaurant; or you can scare yourself sober on one of Stratosphere’s four thrill rides. Obviously, you’ve got to go up the Stratosphere Tower, which is the tallest freestanding observation tower west of the Mississippi River. That’s where you’ll find some of the most insane rides in all of Las Vegas.
HISTORY:
The Stratosphere was officially opened in April 1996 after a construction fire in the tower delayed the original schedule. The Stratosphere was built on the land once owned by the Vegas World casino. The original plan was to build the tallest US structure, but objections from the airport forced the Stratosphere to rethink the tower height. Today, the observation tower measures 1149 feet. Due to its sheer size, the Stratosphere became an instant Las Vegas landmark. Despite all of the security precautions, five people have jumped to their death from the Tower since its opening. The tower currently hosts 4 awesome thrill rides: SkyJump, Insanity, X-Scream and Big Shot.
FACTS & TIDBITS:

1. The North East leg of the Stratosphere Tower has a noticeable error with its shape. This imperfection, which looks like bump in the leg, was cause when the construction team overcompensated for an error that turns out wasn't an error.

2. The Stratosphere had a roller coaster, called the High Roller, that would run around the top of the Stratosphere Tower. While the coaster itself wasn’t that thrilling, the fact that it was over 900 feet in the air certainly got your heart pumping.

3. The beginning of Sharknado: The 4th Awakens features the hotel, casino and tower.

HIDDEN TIPS:

BARS:
The tag line at the Stratosphere's AirBar is "The Higher the Bar, the Better the Buzz", and at more then 800 feet up, the AirBar is the highest bar or lounge in Las Vegas. Enjoy a drink and the view!
C Bar is Stratosphere's version of the casino bar. This circular bar, located just as you walk in the main casino entrance, overlooks the open, high-energy casino floor. While the vibe of the casino can certainly be felt in the bar, the pulsating music, strong drinks and edgy music videos really define the atmosphere. Make sure you check out the excellent happy hour specials.
107 SkyLounge in the Stratosphere Tower is not as high as the Air Bar, but what's another fifteen feet when you're 107 floors up. 107 SkyLounge is actually a larger and much more complete lounge then the Air Bar just above it. The energy and vibe of the lounge is similar to that of other traditional Vegas lounge with one major exception, the spectacular views. The one of a kind views of the entire Las Vegas valley are certainly worth the trip alone, but throw in some incredible cocktails and great appetizers and this lounge becomes a Vegas must do!
