OVERVIEW:
The Wynn Las Vegas is the creation of Steve Wynn, one of the most famous resort casino developers (The Mirage, Treasure Island and Bellagio). The Wynn is an ultra luxury resort and is viewed as one of the finest hotels in the world. The resort has earned multiple five-star and five diamond ratings and has won various hotel awards. This is a beautiful, high-end resort, but luxury comes with a price and hanging out can be quite costly. The Wynn is a wonderful place to stop in and enjoy a few cocktails, just don’t expect yard-long margaritas, 99 cent shots or beer pong.
HISTORY:
On April 28, 2005, the Wynn Las Vegas opened to the public. Ironically, the date was the 55th anniversary of the hotel that once stood on the land, the iconic Desert Inn. It also happened to be five years to the day that the property was purchased by Steve Wynn. Oh yea, it was also Wynn's wife's birthday. Perhaps, it was a lucky day. Well, at a cost of 2.7 billion dollars to build, it better have been.
FACTS & TIDBITS:
The Wynn was one of the first resorts to install Radio-frequency identification technology in its casino chips. It was also the first to install an automatic window washing system. No, the two facts have nothing to do with each other.
HIDDEN TIPS:
The Wynn prints a monthly publication which is available to resort guests. It’s a great source for information on the Wynn and Encore resorts. You can view a copy online at www.visitwynn.com.

BARS:
The Parasol at the Wynn Resort is really two lounges in one. The upstairs lounge, properly called Parasol Up, is more of a typical casino lounge. It's adjacent to the casino floor, but still allows great views of the Lake of Dreams and giant waterfall. The lower level, Parasol Down, is slightly quieter and has a little more of a secluded feel. With its outdoor patio, it's an excellent spot to view the Lake of Dreams and nightly water show. Both lounges provide excellent, well made drinks, but they are a little pricey.
